There is some possible liability involved with teflon SS braided brake lines. As they age, the teflon beneath the stainless steel braiding can become brittle and begin to leak brake fluid. This is why one needs to inspect his/her SS brake lines regularly. Certainly, when they are new they are superior to rubber lines in both performance and durability and are thus used in racing and rallying. Sounds like some shops may not want to deal with the potential liabilites for such a small job. That said, I have Goodridge SS lines on my Z, and no problems after 6 or 7 years and would recommend them.
